April’s 2023 Full Moon in Libra, “The Pink Moon” + What It Means For You

On April 6th, 2023, April’s full moon will be in the air sign Libra, and as we are presently moving through firey Aries season with the sun, there will be an interesting polarity of energies for this lunation. Also known as the “Pink Moon,” in the Farmers’ Almanac, the first full moon of spring received its name to honor flowers that bloom in early spring, specifically pink moss wildflowers. Native Americans also celebrated spring with moss pink flowers, which are known to attract butterflies and symbolize transformation, new beginnings, and the energies of renewal that spring represents.

Like every full moon, you can expect subconscious and inner emotions to come to the surface with the Pink Moon. What makes this lunation different from other full moons is that the energies will not only be supportive of releasing what no longer serves you, including relationships, but other areas of your life that impact or influence connections with others as well. Since the sun will be paired next to Chiron, the planet that represents our core wounds and how to overcome them, the full moon is supportive in confronting grief, disappointment, and sorrow, paired with the strength and courage for a release and healing to occur. However, have no fear! With the lunation in the sign of Libra, an intellectual sign, the feelings that may come up for you may be from more of a detached place and not be as emotional as you may expect. With Libra, this sign can perceive situations from different perspectives, which may enable you to see a person or experience that is being brought up for healing in a new light.

The sign Libra, represented by the symbol of the justice scales, brings forth energies of balance, harmony, patience, fairness, and the creation of peace. As the zodiac sign that is ruled by the planet Venus, the planet of the goddess, love, beauty, and relationships, it is important to note that it is the perfect time to step more into the divine feminine aspect of ourselves and balance out the masculine, fire energy that Aries has ushered in over the past few weeks. Additionally, the full moon will form a conjunction with Jupiter, also known as the planet of luck, which is supportive of various types of breakthroughs, whether they be financial, with your career, relationships, personal healing journey, and so on.

Chakra To Ya sat down to discuss the upcoming lunation with astrologer Anthony Narvaez. He said Jupiter also represents faith, vision, and expansion. Narvaez said this full moon illuminates what began to develop at the Libra New Moon on September 25th, 2022, when the new moon opposed Jupiter in Aries. Back in September, “Jupiter was in retrograde, so the desire for connection with the Libra new moon required balance with a need for introspection and the development of inner faith as a strategy for survival,” Narvaez said. He continued to explain that the Pink Moon “will be opposing Jupiter, only this time Jupiter is in direct motion and met with the energy of the Sun.” Narvaez said because of Libra’s new moon in September, we now have arrived at a more mature place of inner strength and wisdom, and the way we look at the world and our role in it is different than it used to be. He said, “How we relate to others has changed too. In many ways, we are less likely to trust our hopes and dreams in the hands of others. We have developed a greater sense of agency and faith in ourselves.”
